She is a cellist born and raised in Edmonton whose mother, Hope Metszies, performed as a violinist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra during the 1950’s and ’60s. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Victoria before moving to Germany, Austria and to the United States where she finished her studies in Los Angeles.

She returned to her home town when she became a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2003. With the orchestra she has served as Interim Principal Cellist for five seasons and also been a featured soloist.

She has also been a featured solo performer with Edmonton Ballet and during COVID-19 gave a performance for local senior citizens.

Two years later in 2005, following her interest in early music, she also became a member of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, who she has given solo performances with. The Ensemble also commissioned Concerto for Cello, Strings and Harpsichord by Alan Gilliland for her, which she performed the premiere of in 2015.

Outside of classical music she is a founding member of Kent Sangster’s Obsession Octet who won a 2007 Juno Award nomination for its debut jazz CD, performed at Carnegie Hall in 2012 and had their concert nationally broadcast by PBS at the Rochester Jazz Festival in 2016.

Recordings she has appeared on include her own CDs for cello and piano with the pianist Greg Caisley which are Tales and Reflections and Dialogue along with Into by Dean Baltesson, Tommy Banks’ Christmas Instrumental Music for the Holiday Season by Tommy Banks, Obsession and Melodia by Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet, Power Picks Volume 2 by various artists and a music video for Bravo! Television.
