Meyers, Gene

Slide guitarist and vibraphonist who managed to carve a niche for himself on the country music scene, playing vibes on Paul Buskirk’s 1975 album, Hot Pickin’, and releasing albums under his own name.

Gene’s solo efforts include Country VibesA Pair of GenesSweet Sounds of a Slide Guitar, and Mostly Gene, on which he covered standards such as “Georgia on My Mind”, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, and “St. James Infirmary”.

He also appeared on every track of the Ronnie Dean album, A Thief in the Night.

Many thanks to Clyde Brewer who very kindly contributed information.
