Moore, Tommy (12th September 1931-29th September 1981)

He was a drummer born in Liverpool, England, who became a member of The Beatles after he was taken on by John Lennon at the suggestion of Johnny Hutchison of  The Big Three.

He worked nights as a fork-lift driver at Garston Bottleworks in Liverpool while still playing drums for The Silver Beetles/Beatles, although didn’t always turn up for gigs on time.  During a tour of Scotland the band had a road accident and he was hit in the face by a guitar and lost most of his teeth.  John Lennon was reportedly sometimes abusive to him and Stuart Sutcliffe and his girlfriend, who did not like John, was always asking him to leave the group.  His last performance with them was at the Jacaranda on 13th June 1960.

He died of a brain hemorrhage in 1981 when he was 50 years old.   Bob Wooler of the Cavern Club attended the funeral.
