Morris, Farrell (17th August 1938-4th October 2012)

He was a percussionist, conga player and artist born in Waxahachie, Texas, who worked with many acts that include Alabama, Joan Baez, Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band over a period of 9 years, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Rita Coolidge, Kris Kristofferson, Charlie McCoy, Mickey Newbury, The Pousette Dart Band, Lou Rawls, The Statler Brothers, Conway Twitty and Hank Williams Jr.

Albums he appeared on during the course of his career include his own Bits of Percussion and Jazz and also Body Talkin’ by Kathy Barnes, Favorite Song of All by The Brooylyn Tabernacle Choir, In Pieces by Garth Brooks, I Wish I Was Eighteen Again by George Burns, Always You by James Ingram, Nashville Rebel by Waylon Jennings, Darlin’ by Tom Jones, Christmas at Our House by Barbara Mandrell, Songbook by Gordon Lightfoot, Horse Called Music by Willie Nelson, White Limozeen by Dolly Parton, Honky Tonk Years (1950-1966) by Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys, Horizon by Eddie Rabbitt, Under Western Skies by Marty Robbins, Gift by Kenny Rogers, Won’t Be Blue Anymore by Dan Seals, RCA Country Legends by Sylvia, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, Old Time Christmas by Randy Travis, Greatest Hits Vol. 1 by Hank Williams Jr, Greatest Hits by Neil Young and Disney’s Fairytale Weddings.

As a largely self-taught artist his work, which often took on a musical theme, has been displayed at the Living Color Gallery and the Nashville Jazz Workshop and at cities such as Las Vegas, Dallas and Louisville.

He died from lung cancer in Nashville, Tennessee, in October 2012 when he was 74 years old.
