Mues, Diane (1960/1-Present)

She is a violist raised in Addison, Illinois who started to learn the viola when she was 9 years old. It wasn’t long before she rose to the position of Principal Viola of the Chicago Youth Symphony.  Her further studies saw her earning her Bachelor of Music degree at DePaul University where she received the Louis Sudler Foundation of the Arts Award and served as Principal Viola of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

She was a participant in the Tanglewood Music Festival and soon after that she became Assistant Principal Viola of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra.

In 1987 she became a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has been active in several of their educational programs, chamber music performances and radio broadcasts.

At the 54th Annual CSO Musician’s Luncheon in May 2017 she was honored for her 30 year service with the orchestra.
