Persson, Diane

She is a bassoon player, conductor and teacher who took her musical studies at Dickinson State College and the Eastman School of Music.  She carried on to take further studies in London, England and Tel Aviv, Israel.

In her life as a professional musician she has regularly performed with several of her local chamber ensembles as well as the Chamber Winds, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Wind Ensemble and the New Edmonton Wind Sinfonia.

As a conductor she has led the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra since 1997.

In the world of musical education she has been on the faculties of several teaching establishments including the Elk Island County, Grant McEwan College, Wind & Percussion Departments at King’s University College and the University of Alberta’s Department of Music.  She has also worked with several of the Edmonton public schools, been an adjudicator at various local music festivals including the Edmonton Cantando Festival in 2010, given woodwind instruction at the Albert Summer Music Workshops and the West Coast Amateur Music Festival and been a clinician at Windworks.
