Peter Schreiber (1965-Present)

He is an oboist and conductor born in Vienna, Austria who took studies in recorder, oboe and piano at the Johann Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt, winning several prizes, including 1st prize in oboe in 1983, in the Jugend Musiziert competition.

He went on to study oboe, conducting and music pedagogy at Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Arts.  He earned his diploma in oboe with distinction in 1990 and the following year he wrote a thesis on Gustan Mahler’s 1st symphony which earned his Masters degree.  In 1998 he completed his studies in music education and wrote the thesis on harmony music for “Una cosa rara” by Soler and Went which earned his diploma.

In 1988 he became a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and alongside performing with them he has also recorded and toured with Wiener Concert-Verein, Wiener Kammerphilharmonieand the chamber ensembles Collegium Viennense, Nonetto Sinfonico and Quintetto Sinfonico.

In 2009 he was given the opportunity ti become artistic director of the Eisenstadt Haydn Orchestra and he began leading the orchestra from 2010.   He has led all the concerts since 2015.

Recordings he has performed on include VSOP Vienna Symphonic Orchestra Project by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Arnold Schonberg by Wiener Concert-Verein and Haydn by the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra.
