Potgieter, Louis Hendrik (4th April 1951-12th November 1993)

He was a singer born to a German Boer family in Pretoria, South Africa, and was also known as Patrick Bailey.

In 1975 he went to Germany where he was a dancer in a Munich theatre.  While there he was spotted by the songwriter Ralph Siegel who invited him to join the group Dschinghis Khan (Genghis Khan) which was the group he assembled for the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest.  The group disbanded around 1985 and he returned to South Africa where he became a hotel manager.

He died in Cape Town, South Africa , in 1993 due to complications from AIDS.
