Randall, Anthony

He is a French horn player, composer and arranger born in Neath, South Wales, who earned his Honours degree in Music from the University of Wales, Cardiff.  He was awarded a scholarship to study horn, conducting and composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

From there he went on to perform with most of the major made regular performances with the major London orchestras as well as giving solo performances in cities such as Lucerne, Edinburgh and London.  He has also performed with the  Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the English Chamber Orchestra.

He has appeared on many recordings including Bach: Brandenburg Concertos/Britten and Handel: Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks with the English Chamber Orchestra, and Classics for Brass, Mussorgsy: Pictures at an Exhibition and Eine Kleine Brass Musik with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble.

His compositions include “Serenade”, the setting of the Dylan Thomas poem “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” and “Nocturne for Horn and Piano”.

In the field of musical education he was Professor of Horn and Head of Brass at the London College of Music from 1983 to 1996 and was Professor of Horn at the Royal Military School of Music Kneller Hall from 1990 to 2001.
