Schubilske, Catherine Schaefer

She is a violinist born in Chicago, Illinois who studied at the University of Cincinnati, where she won the Hermann Violin Scholarship competition, and Indiana University, where she earned her Master’s degree and won the Indianapolis Young Artist award.

She went on to work as an extra musician with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a tenured musician with the Honolulu Symphony, the Sana Fe Opera and the Milwaukee Symphony.  She became a member of the Minnesota Orchestra in 2000 where she plays as Second Violin.

As a chamber musician she has performed as a member of the Hill House Chamber Players and has played at the Dame Myra Hess concert broadcast in Chicago, the  Bach Aria Festival and the Strings in the Mountain Festival.  She has been a frequent participant in the Sommerfest chamber music program and also performs duo recitals with the pianist Mary Jo Gothmann,

As a soloist she has performed with the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony.  She has also performed at the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra.

Recordings she has performed on include The Narada Nutcracker by the Narada Artists.

In the field of music education she has taught the El Sistema program at the NellieStone Johnson School in North Minneapolis and also works as a private tutor.
