Schulz, Christian (9th March 1967-Present)

He is a cellist, composer and conductor born into a musical family in Vienna, Austria, who took his studies in cello and conducting at the Vienna Academy of Music.

Venturing out into his musical career he made his solo debut at the Vienna Musikverein in 1986 and four years later in 1990 he became a member of the Vienna Volksoper.  He remained with them until 1993 and sometime during those years he also worked as a lecturer with the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra.

In 1993 he became a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and in 1995 he also began working as a conductor which has led to him conducting many international chamber and symphony orchestras such as the Montreal Symphony, Tonkuenstler Orchestra and the Vancouver Opera along with many others.

In 1997 he became a co-founder of Ambassade Orchestra Vienna with other members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and from 2000 he has been the Principal Conductor of the Festival Linz Sinfonietta.  He has also led the Chicago Philharmonic, George Enescu Philharmonic, the Malaysian Philharmonic, the Romanian State Philharmonic of Arad, the San Diego Symphony, the Sarajevo Philharmonic, Victoria Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Sinfonietta as a guest conductor and became the Chief Conductor of the Vienna Mozart Collegium in 2006.

In 2006 he became the music director for the concert series Schwingungen and 2010 he worked for Tehran OKF as a musical director.

Several of his own compositions have been premiered internationally.

His work in the recording studio has seen him performing on Classic Highlights with the Vienna Sinfonietta along with many more.

In 2010 there was a documentary/art film released about Christian and his wife Marianne and the Austrian land artist Christian Schneider called Barcode.
