Shaw, Julia

She is a harpist born in Texas who studied at the University of Houston and the Manhattan School of Music.  After earning her Masters degree she embarked on her professional career by becoming a performer on several productions, and with the New Jersey Symphony and New York City Ballet.

Becoming the Principal Harpist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, she would remain with them for 21 years before leaving to perform with many other orchestras in Canada as well as concentrate on being part of a harp duo with the Edmonton Symphony Principal Harpist, Nora Bumanis.

Very much involved with education since her Calgary Philharmonic days, she has taught at the University of Calgary, the Banff Centre and Mount Royal College.
