Sherr, David (1941-Present)

Founder of the Art Music Ensemble which specializes in the music of Luciano Berio and David’s own Berio-inspired compositions.  A good example of their work can be found on the 2003 release, Look Both Ways.

David is also active with Citizens Ontological Music Agenda, a program of improvisational music that features a wide array of musicians jamming at ABC No-Rio in New York.  The sessions are free and open to the public, although donations are welcome.  He is also a member of the American Composers Forum.

A multi-reed musician who is equally adept on the alto sax, clarinet, flute, and oboe, David has played one or more of those instruments on recordings with Aim, David Benoit, The Chipmunks, Stephan Cohn, Ry Cooder, Sonny Criss, Freddie Hubbard, L.T.D., Holly Near, Dinah Shore, and Frank Sinatra.

He has also done some soundtrack work:  He can be heard on the soundtrack of The Color Purple, and has served as a contractor for the soundtrack albums Crazy in AlabamaMatrix Revolutions, Truth & Light:  Music from the X-Files, and Universal Soldier:  The Return.
