Siegler, John (1951-Present)

Bassist who was a member of the group Air and who appeared on their eponymous 1971 debut. He was also a member of Moogy and the Rhythm Kings, with Mark “Moogy” Klingman, Ralph Schuckett, and John Siomos.

In 1972, he began a musical collaboration with Todd Rundgren, playing bass and cello on his albums, Something/Anything? and A Wizard, A True Star. He did the same on 1974’s Todd and Utopia and 1975’s Another Live, on which he also chipped in on vocals.

In 1976, he appeared on Dan Hartman’s Images, Bette Midler’s Songs for the New Depression, Todd Rundgren’s Faithful, and Martha Velez’s American Heartbeat. He performed bass duties on 1978’s Bird of Paradise by Tony Bird, Moogy II by Mark “Moogy” Klingman, Cheryl Ladd’s self-titled debut, and Back to the Bars by Todd Rundgren.

In 1979, his bass lines graced two Desmond Child albums, Desmond Child & Rouge and Runners in the Night, as well as Ellen Shipley’s eponymous effort and X-Static by Daryl Hall & John Oates. He reunited with Hall & Oates on 1980’s Voices and 1981’s Private Eyes, and was a member of their touring band.

In 1982, he played bass on Anyone Can See by Irene Cara, Bobby McFerrin’s self-titled album, and New Jersey by Joe Piscopo. Then he did a couple of Clarence Clemons albums, Rescue in 1983 and Hero in 1985. In the mid-‘80s, he worked on three albums with Roger Daltrey: Can’t Wait to See the MovieThe Pride You Hide, and Under a Raging Moon.

In the 1990s, he became involved in the music department of the highly successful Pokemon franchise, arranging, composing, performing and producing music for the movies and TV series. He filled similar roles on Yu-Gi-Oh: Music to Duel By and Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie, in the new millennium.

In 2006, he played electric bass on a trio of Neil Rosengarden CDs, Insurgency, Insurgency! Everybody to Get from Street!Some of the Things We Do, and Upsidedown Furniture.

He has continued to perform as a member of The Mar-Tays.
