Spering, Andreas (1966-Present)

He is a harpsichord player and conductor born in Germany who studied in Essen.  He is the younger brother of the conductor Christoph Spering .

As a specialist in early music he performed as a member of Musica Antiqua Koln from 1990 to 1994 and two years later he took on the position of Artistic Director of Capella Augustina and the Bruhl Castle Concerts.

Moving into conducting operas he has led the orchestra at Leipzig Opera Gothenburg and Antwerp and been a guest conductor in cities that include Berne, Essen, Kiel and Potsdam.  He became the Music Director of the Handel Festival at Karlsruhe in 1999 and has led many operas by Handel, Scarlatti and Reinhard Keiser.

Many orchestras have invited him to be a guest conductor with the orchestras including the Basle Chamber Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, symphony orchestras at Antwerp, Frankfurt/Oder, Lahti, Stavanger and Osnabruck among others, New Japan Philharmonic,  Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and several German radio orchestras.

Recordings he has performed on as a musician and/or conductor include Haydn: Die Schopfung (The Creation), Brahma – Serenades 1 & 2 and Joseph Haydn – Die Feuerbrunst with Capella Augustina, J.S. Bach: Multiple Concerti by the Cologne Chamber Orchestra,  Haendel – Siroe, Re Di Persia with Cappella Coloniensis, Mozart – Fantasia – Musica Per L’Estro Creativo with the Kammerorchester Basel, Johann Adolf Hasse: Salve Regina, Johann David Heinichen: Dresden Concerti, Francesco Maria Veracini: 5 Ouvertures, Italian Violin Concertos and Concerti “Per L’Orchestra Di Dresda” by Musica Antiqua Koln and several various collections along with many others.

In the movies he performed as a musician in the 2000 film The King Is Dancing and played on the track “Die Schopfung (The Creation)”from the soundtrack of the 2016 documentary Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey.
