Stalter, Tim

He is a tenor, choral director and teacher who studied choral music at Goshen College, Indiana, University of Illinois-Urbana and obtained his doctorate in choral conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In his singing career he has been a soloist and chorus member on an international basis, making appearances with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and Chamber Choir and others and appearing at music festivals held in Austria, England and the United States.

Specialising in performances from the Baroque and Renaissance periods he has often sung as The Evangelist in the various “Passion” compositions written by Johann Sebastian Bach and Heinrich Schutz. As a choral conductor he has led the ensemble Kantorei who hail from Iowa.

His singing and conducting has seen him appearing on recordings that include Amazing Grace: American Hymns & Sprituals and Songs of Angels: Christmas Hymns & Carols with the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers and Monsterology: New Music from Iowa.

In the world of musical education he has held the position of Director of Choral Activities at the University of Iowa, Assistant Professor of Music at Goshen College, Indiana, and Assistant Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
