Thomasberger, Gunter (1950–Present)

Cellist from Vienna, Austria, who attended the University of Music and Performing Arts and studied under Otto Stiglitz.

Groups with whom he has worked include Ensemble Bella Musica de Vienne, Pro Arte Quartet Vienna, Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich, the Vienna Concert Society and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 8th November 2011, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Eroica Trio interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.

Recordings on which Gunter appears include:  Aigelsreiter/Hahn—Die Ufer.  Eine Station—Soundtrack zur Performance vom 20. Mai ’88 in Centre George Pompidou; and, Beethoven:  Danses Allemandes/MenuetsDanses and Haydn:  Zingarese/Landler/Nocturnes with Ensemble Bella Musica de Vienne.

He has now retired.
