Tomkins, Saskia

She is a multi-string instrumentalist and teacher from Kent, England, who had training in classical music and earned her degree in jazz.

Using her background in folk music, she has held the title of All British Champion for Irish Music and performs on the violin, viola, cello and nykelharpe.

She has worked as a soloist and with many artists and ensembles through the course of her career including Laurie Anderson, John Etheridge, Karen Street, Uriah Heep, Declan Waggett, Crispian Mills from Kula Shaker and Sonja Kristina from Curved Air.

She has appeared on albums such as A Plea for Sanity by Al-Pha-X, Celtic Flute Magic by Celtonia, The Triumph of Hope Over Experience by Robb Johnson, Turn To Me by Bill Jones, LinnTilla by LinnTilla and the soundtrack of Relic Hunter.

Recently she has been performing in a duet with Steafan Hannigan, has been a member of the house band that performed at the Canadian Aboriginal Awards and is a member of LinnTilla.  Her work has also appeared on the UK’s Classic FM channel.

When she’s not performing she is a violin and viola tutor who holds workshops alongside giving private lessons.
