Weaver, Blue (11th March 1947-Present)

He is a keyboard player born Derek John “Blue” Weaver in Cardiff, Wales who studied music at Cardiff’s Royal College of Music.

He was formerly a founder of Amen Corner and member of Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson Band and The Strawbs and he joined the Bee Gees, staying with them from 1975 to 1980.

He has also played with Family, T-Rex on “Get It On” and “Telegram Sam”, Lou Reed on “Berlin”, Alice Cooper on “Billion Dollar Babies”, Chicago, Stephen Stills, John Cougar Mellencamp, The Osmonds, Stevie Wonder, Art  of Noise, Duran Duran, The Damned, and Swing Out Sister.

He composed music for TV advertising and won a “Local Emmy” in Miami for music on Calder Racetrack.

As a producer he produced an album for Jimmy Ruffin and as a songwriter he co-wrote the song “Our Love” with Barry Gibb.  The Pet Shop Boys’ first gig saw him producing and programming the computers for them and he has worked on film soundtracks with composers such as Ryuichi Sakamoto and Hans Zimmer.

He has also been a director of the Music Producers Guild.
