She is a percussionist born in Taipei, Taiwan who studied the piano from the time she was 4 years old moved to Vancouver, British Columbia with her family when she was 10 years old. She studied at the University of British Columbia and earned her Bachelor of Music before taking further studies at Tempe University and earning her Master of Music degree.
From 2004 to 2007 she performed with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra as Principal Percussion before being appointed the same position at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2007
As a chamber musician she has performed with several chamber ensembles in Chicago and played regularly on the CSO’s MusicNOW series.
Giving many solo performances she has been featured on WFMT-FM on Live from WFMT and the West Coast Performance Series of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and been heard with orchestras that include the Chicago Sinfonietta, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico and the National Symphony of Taiwan.
Recordings she has performed on include Stereo is King by Mason Bates, Live by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass, the soundtrack of the film Lincoln by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Blue Moth by Anna Clyne.
In the field of musical education she has been on the faculties of the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. She is currently a faculty member of the Aspen Music Festival and DePaul University and has given clinics and master classes throughout the United States and Canada.
