Young, Andrew

He is a saxophonist and clarinettist born in Liverpool, England, who began playing after beginning lessons in both instruments when he was eight years old.  After choosing between football and music he took further studies in the two instruments in London and then went to Germany to further his skills in music of all genres.

From there he travelled to South Africa to perform by invitation and this resulted in him releasing his debut album, Soul People, which topped the South African charts and was nominated for five awards there.

He has since worked all over the world in countries that include Cuba, Mexico, Turkey, Venezuela and The People’s Republic of China where he has toured seven times to date and been dubbed the “Saxophone Prince”.

Performing as a soloist and session musician he has played with a variety of orchestral ensembles, bands and artists including Shirley Bassey, Jimmy Buffett, James Galway, Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, his own band Let It Flow, Matt Bianco and Shakatak.  Also working as a touring musician he appeared with Dionne Warwick on her tour of Austria.

Releasing several of his own albums as well as featuring on those by other artists, his work is heard on his Soul People, Magic Life, One II One, Touched to Tell and Live from Vienna and also Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads by Jimmy Buffett.

He has also performed and toured with his own quartet.
