Zimmitti, Robert

He is a drummer and percussionist, often credited as Bob Zimmitti, who became known for his work during the 1970s and his appearance on soundtracks from the later 1970s until present.

His earliest recording seems to be when he performed for Frank Zappa in 1972 on his The Grand Wazoo.

Throughout his long and active career as a studio musician has worked with countless artists and composers such as Paul Anka, David Arnold, David Benoit, Leonard Cohen, Elmer Bernstein, Elvis Costello, Danny Elfman, George Fenton, Gloria Gaynor,  James Horner, James Newton Howard, Rickie Lee Jones, Albert King, John Ottman, Lalo Schifrin, Dinah Shore, O.C. Smith, Teena Marie and Toto among many others.

A few of the soundtracks he has performed on include The Amazing Spider-Man, Avatar, The Big Bounce, Eight Legged Freaks, The Hard Way, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, King Kong, March of the Penguins, Men in Black III, The Notebook where he was a soloist, The Punisher, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Rocky II, Saturday Night Fever, The Simpsons: Testify, Stripes and Wanted.

His son is the drummer Anthony Zimmitti who has been a member of The 88.
