Anka, Paul (30th July 1941-Present)

Singer-songwriter, composer and actor born in Ottawa, Canada, whose first single was “I Confess”, written when he was 14.

He wrote “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” for Buddy Holly, “She’s A Lady” for Tom Jones, the English lyrics for “My Way” and his hit “Diana” was written for a former babysitter.

He began acting in movies from 1960 and  was the composer of the theme for The Tonight Show while Johnnie Carson was the host.

In 1990 he became a naturalized citizen of the US.  He was appointed an officer of the Order of Canada, has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  France awarded him the title “Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters”.

He has five daughters and Amanda, the fourth one, is married to actor Jason Bateman and the fifth one, Alexandra, is married to cyclist Jorgi Muller who is on Lance Armstrong’s PR team.
