Duiser, Martin (24th November 1949-Present)

He is a producer and singer-songwriter from the Netherlands who began his career in the 1970s.

In 1971 he joined the band Husky as their lead singer and began to start songwriting for them. Some of his output for them included “Pretty Little Linda”, “Chitchie Booboo” and “Give It Up”.

In 1972 he left Husky and decided to pursue his solo career under the pseudonym of Martin Dowser. He released the single “My Love Irene/Concise Confession”, but quickly decided to go into songwriting and production on a far greater level.

He began collaborating with Wally Tax who had been with The Outsiders and over the next few years they saw success with hits such as “Bridges Are Burning” and “Miss Wonderful”. Alongside his work with Wally he produced the band Mayfly in 1974 and was instrumental in forming the successful band, Champagne, and worked as their composer and producer.

Around the turn of the ‘80s he began collaborating with the composer Jaap Eggermont who had previously been with the group Golden Earring. This became another extremely successful venture and together they wrote and produced the popular Stars on 45 where they recreated successful pop songs and strung them into medleys sung by session musicians that were used with the accompaniment of disco music. They soared up charts all over the world in 1981 and there were many album and singles releases using the Stars on 45 name between then and 1997.

From 1982 he produced and wrote many more successful hits such as “Shine Up” for Doris D & The Pins, “Glory to the Beautiful People” for Guys ‘n’ Dolls, “Tell Me Why, Why” for Anita Meyer, “Fantasy Island” for Tight Fit and “Dynamite” for Vanessa. In 1983 he and Piet Souer wrote the song “Sing Me a Song” which was chosen for Bernadette to perform in the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest.

As his career has gone on, he has worked as a songwriter and producer for many other successful artists and groups that include Andrea Bocelli, Harry Brooker, Joe Cocker, Luv, Alan Parsons, Simple Minds, Sting, Toto and Albert West. He has also been a producer for Night at the Proms for 5 years.

He currently owns MDP Studios in Curacao.
