He is a bassist, singer-songwriter and producer born in Los Angeles, California, who became a founder member of the group Ambrosia in 1971, with David Pack. He co-wrote several of their songs including the 1975 hit “Holdin’ On To Yesterday”.
After they split in 1983 he went on to became a founding member of Bruce Hornsby and the Range and saw further success on hits such as “The Way It Is” and “Mandolin Rain”.
The numerous artists he has worked with outside of Ambrosia & Bruce Hornsby & The Range include Patti Austin, Chi Coltrane, The Good Luck Joes, Les Lokey, Chris Rea and Trefethen,
A Grammy Award winner and five-time nominee he has appeared on many recordings with just a few including One Eighty and Somewhere I’ve Never Travelled by Ambrosia, Scenes from the Southside and The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby & The Range, Anywhere You Go by David Pack, Tales of Mystery & Imagination by The Alan Parsons Project, Time Passagesby Al Stewart and the soundtrack of Coast to Coast.
In 2006 he released his debut single entitled “I’m Comin’ Home for Christmas” with a part of the profits going to Disabled American Veterans.
He has run his The Exchange Studio in Milwaukee and still tours and records with the reformed Ambrosia. He also provides advice and assistance to new musicians starting out on their careers. .
