Bach Society of St. Louis

The Bach Society of St. Louis in Missouri is a choral society that was originally formed by Dr. William Heyne in 1941 to perform the choral works of Johann Sebastian Bach.  They are run by a board of volunteers from all walks of life that assist in both the artistic and financial side of the Society as well as organising fundraisers.

Today they hold the accolade of the oldest continuous choral society in the St. Louis and the surrounding area.  They have widened their repertoire to cover works by many other composers that range from various periods in history including works they have commissioned.  They are currently directed by Dr. A. Dennis Sparger.

Aside from their concerts they can be seen performing and working with their Education and Outreach Programs known as Giving Bach to St. Louis and Encore!  They also support young soloists in their Young Artists Awards scholarship program.

Their annual Christmas Candlelight concert is featured on the Society’s recording Gloria!
