Berlin Chamber Orchestra (Kammerorchester Berlin)

This chamber orchestra was founded in 1945 in Berlin, Germany.  It was led by its artistic director, Helmut Koch, until 1975 and he has since been followed by Kurt Masur, Peter Schreier, Vittori Negri and the current position holder, Michael Sanderling,  among others.  They also worked with the trumpeter Ludwig Guttler.

It has gained international renown and has toured throughout the world and has been awarded with the Goethe Prize by the City of Berlin for their musical achievements.  They have made many recordings and were awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for the CDs of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Mozart’s Betulia Liberata and Vivaldi’sJuditha Triumphans.
