Living Strings

This group began as an English studio orchestra put together by Ethel Gabriel to perform easy listening music for RCA’s Camden label.  Their arranger and conductor was Johnny Douglas with Geraldo, Hill Bowen and Bob Sharples also contributing.

They made many recordings with their albums always being based on a theme, i.e. the sea, Hawaii, Broadway etc. and were regularly heard on radio shows and commercial programmes.

Following the enormous success of the orchestra, Ethel Gabriel went on to form Living Marimbas, Living Brass and Living Voices among others.
