University of Florida Chamber Singers

This ensemble of chamber singers based at the University of Florida is made up mainly of a group of the graduate and upper undergraduate students studying there who have only been accepted after auditioning.

They perform and extremely wide and varied repertoire which can range from early choral music to modern day and works from many different cultures and countries.

Their performances have found them acclaim on a national and international level and undertaken several tours.

In 1974 there were 23 members in the ensemble who were led by Willis Bodine when they gave a performance of “Missa Brevis” by Mozart at the Summer’s Series Concerts.

Two years later, still under the leadership of Willis Bodine, they embarked on a mini tour that saw them giving performances in Lake Wales, Orlando and Sarasota and following that with a tour of the east coast of America including a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.

In 1988, under the co-direction of Ronald Burrichter, they performed by request for the White House Staff Celebration.  They also appeared on a television broadcast in Austria at the Linz Festival.

In 1995 they undertook a tour of various cities in France with the University Choir where they were led by Ronald Burrichter.

In 2003 they gave a performance to the Florida Choral Directors Association and in 2010 they performed at the Jacare Brazil Chamber Concert at the Harn Museum of Art.

In recent years they have been led by the conductor Dr. Will Kesling.
