Got to Get You Into My Life

(John Lennon/Paul McCartney)

Although the song is credited to Lennon and McCartney, Paul McCartney was the main composer of this song and has since admitted it is about marijuana and not a girl as was often thought.  It was recorded at EMI Studios London some time between 7th April and 17th June 1966, but only released as a single in the US in 1976, with “Helter Skelter” on the B-side, and achieving No. 7 in the charts.  Hit cover versions have also been recorded by Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers and Earth, Wind and Fire.  It appears on The Beatles album Revolver.
