Granada

(Isaac Albeniz)

This piece is one of the original works of the Suite Espanola by Isaac Albeniz and is written about this Andalucian City in Spain which was home to the Gitanos (gypsies) and the location of the Alhambra which was home to the Muslim kings.

Using his colourful imagination and inspirations from the surroundings he composed the music as a serenade using a “cantabile style” in the melody and wanting to also incorporate the guzla which is an ancient instrument from Arabia.
