Composed by Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Tim Rice, with the working title “Every Good Man Needs a Helping Hand”, this song was written as part of Act II in the stage musical Chess.  It was first released on LP on the soundtrack of the show in 1984, and followed by a single release when Elaine Paige recorded it in 1985.

The song was covered by Anne Sofie von Mutter and has been included on her tribute album to Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, I Let the Music Speak.
