Love Machine

(William Griffin/Warren Moore)

This song was written by William Griffin and Warren Moore of The Miracles and recorded by the group for their 1975 album City of Angels.  This became the second Top 40 single by The Miracles after Smoky Robinson had left the group three years earlier.  When the single was released Tamla Motown took the full length version from the album and split it between the A and B sides.   Reaching Platinum status, it hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1976 and No. 3 on the UK singles.

The singer Thelma Houston and the group Wham! have both since covered it and it was also used in 1995 for the soundtrack of the Disney movie Heavyweights.  It has appeared on several Motown and disco compilations since its release.
