Marita and Her Hearts Desire (A Musical Fairy Tale)

(Bruce Adolphe)

This is a chamber music fairy tale written by Bruce Adolphe for family audiences.  The libretto and story were provided by Louise Gikow and it is described by many as a “Peter and the Wolf-like composition”.  It is the story of a young girl who believes that the moon can grant her wishes and is told through narration and music.  The Met used it’s premiere to introduce children to the world of opera in January 1995.
