Serenade for String Orchestra No. 1 (Antheil)

(George Antheil)

Composed by George Antheil in 1948, this Serenade owes much to the first movement of his Fifth Symphony, as well as “The Battle Cry of Freedom”.  Like much of the composer’s output, it owes little besides structure to earlier examples of the form.
