Song of the Bells

(Leroy Anderson)

This piece for orchestra was written in 1953 by Leroy Anderson and was premiered by the composer when he recorded it for Decca in September of that year.  The composition was written after Leroy Anderson had observed that there were too few works written for the accompaniment of bells and decided to incorporate them into a waltz. He added a glockenspiel in the middle of the piece to play a duet with the bells to offset the speed of the respective rings that each instrument makes.
