Suite of Scottish Dances (Alwyn)

This suite was written by William Alwyn in 1946 with the composer basing his dances on genuine Scottish tunes.  The dances that appear are:

  • (i) The Indian Queen
  • (ii) A Trip To Italy
  • (iii) Colonel Thornton’s Strathspey
  • (iv) The Perthshire Hunt – Reel
  • (v) Loch Earn – Reel
  • (vi) Carleton House
  • (vii) Miss Ann Carnegie’s Hornpipe
