Song which is originally a folk song about a train that is thought to have originated in nineteenth century America and is one of the Top 500 Songs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that are said to have shaped Rock and Roll. There are many theories as to the true origins of the song but it is said that it may have originated by J.A.Roff and the earliest known sheet music of it is from 1882 under the original title “The Great Rock Island Route”. This was rewritten by William Kindt as Wabash Cannon Ball in 1904.
