Whatever Happened to the Girls I Knew

(Larry Cheshier/Murray Kellum)

Song written by Larry Cheshier and Murray Kellum with the answer being a plethora of references to girls in rock and roll songs from the ’50s, when this novelty record was first recorded by Sonny Burgess.  It becomes good-natured nostalgia in the capable hands of Robbins, whose first “hit” (“White Lightning”, on which he backed George Jones on piano) was released the same year, 1959.
