You’re Going to Lose That Girl

(John Lennon/Paul McCartney)

This song written by Lennon and McCartney was the final track recorded by The Beatles before they embarked on the cinematic adventure known as Help!.  The song is a not-so-subtle warning that if the listener doesn’t start treating his girlfriend better, the singer is going to whisk her away.  After recording it, Paul added a piano and Ringo over-dubbed bongos, giving the song a fuller feel.  In the film, director Richard Lester exploits this by adding footage of the pair performing the extra instruments in the studio.  The session is curtailed when one of the baddies saws a circle in the ceiling below where Ringo is playing the drums.  You can hear the song in its entirety on the soundtrack, however.
