He was a composer and conductor of the Osipov State Russian Folk Orchestra from the 1950s after Dmitri Osipov had led it following the death of Nikolai Osipov, who the orchestra is named after.
He appeared on several of their recordings including Balalaika Favourites, Ivan Petrov’s Songs of My Russia and works of Rachmaninov and Rimsky-Korsakov.
His work as a composer and with the Osipov Russian State Folk Orchestra appeared in the 2014 film The Grand Budapest Hotel.
